Mircea has been leading the sustainability agenda of the Retail division of IKEA in Romania for 10+ years. In 2006 he co-founded Viitor Plus, a sustainability NGO where he still serves in the Board. Appointed as Associate Faculty Member at the University of Economic Studies in Bucharest in 2023 (Sustainability and Circular Economy), Mircea complements sustainability with his engineering background and 18+ years work experience in IT.

At IKEA, he has been involved with many sustainability topics: from waste management to energy efficiency, from sustainable transport to biodiversity regeneration, from training, mentoring and coaching to Public Affairs and being a spokesperson, from Extended Producer Responsibility to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting, from emergency support in crises (COVID19, Ukraine) to ongoing community support.

Mircea has a systemic approach, facilitating translation of Sustainability into everyday language, its integration in strategies and creation of action plans.
